At this critical moment in American history, too many workers are paid too little to support their families. Wages have been stagnant for too long, and hard working people are forced to scrape by to provide for themselves and their families.
Because big corporations avoid paying fair wages workers are forced to make impossible choices:
- Workers aren't paid enough to afford childcare and we don't have the public resources we need to fund quality child care programs
- Workers who provide critical home and nursing home care for seniors and people with disabilities can't afford to provide for themselves and their families and we can't provide access to quality long-term care for a growing number of Americans who need it
- Adjunct professors and other faculty who educate our young people at public universities can barely make ends meet, while the schools themselves are starved for funding, putting higher education out of reach for too many people
That’s why we’re coming together with working people and families across Detroit to say we’ve had enough.
On April 14th working people who are building the Fight for $15 movement will stand up together for a day of national action to make our voices heard. Join us as we stand in solidarity with workers across the country who are fighting for $15 and a union.
Join Good Jobs Now and D$15 on Thursday, April 14th at 3:30pm at SEIU Healthcare (2604 4th St., Detroit, MI 48201).
