Civic Engagement Fellowship

Timeline: Now – December 2nd, 2016

Schedule: Tuesday – Saturday (11 am – 7 pm)

Fellowship Type: Part-Time (10-20 hours per week)

Stipend: $15 per hour 

Good Jobs Now, a grassroots membership based organization that fights for economic and social justice for low-wage workers and Detroiters, is seeking Civic Engagement Fellows who are dedicated to electing and holding accountable candidates who support economic justice issues including the following:

  • $15 minimum wage and the right to join a union

  • Affordable child care

  • Quality long-term care for our seniors

  • Racial justice and police brutality

  • Immigration reform

Duties:

  • Attend community meetings, events and actions on behalf of GJN

  • Coordinate GJN house parties, town halls, and community events with strategic partners and allies across the city

  • Turn out low-income workers and Detroiters, allies, and stakeholders to campaign events through relationship building, phone-banking, house parties, and door to door canvassing.

  • Execution of numeric-driven voter contact goals and metrics including making phone calls and canvassing 

  • Utilize VoteBuilder, NationBuilder, Google Drive and other tools for reporting

Qualifications:

  • Ability to meet deadlines, organize and execute multiple tasks with great attention to detail.

  • Enthusiasm for working with and ability to motivate others
